On the eve of the FIFA World Cup final, the head of the ruling body involves a “golden age” in the club’s game.
FIFA GANNI Infantino President announced a victory that the club’s World Cup is “the most successful club in the world” on Saturday before the weekend finals between Paris Saint -Germain and Chelsea.
The first edition of 32 teams of the tournament faced criticism of the accumulation of demands extending to the elite players and played at the temperatures of bread in the United States, which raised concerns about the health of those concerned.
There were also doubts about the level of interest that the competition would give him the fans, but Infantino said he was satisfied with attending matches, although many games are far from selling them, and claimed that they have achieved great financial success.
“The golden football period has started in the club. We can definitely say that the FIFA World Cup has achieved great success,” Infantino told reporters at Trump Tower at Avenue in New York City, where FIFA just opened an office.
“We heard that from a financial point of view it will not succeed, that no one is interested, but I can say that we have created nearly $ 2.1 billion of revenues, for 63 games,” he said.
“This makes an average of $ 33 million per game – there is no other club competition in the world approaching.
“It is already the most successful competition in the world.”
Former Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp was one of the leading voices against the tournament, describing it as “the worst idea of football” in a recent interview with him.
However, the head of the Global Football Association, rejected suggestions that Klopp might talk about most observers in Europe.
“We should not say that Europe’s opinion on this is very bad because it is not true,” said Infantino, who was appearing on stage alongside many football greats, including Brazilian Ronaldo.
“All the teams that came here were happy – some of the teams that did not come here because they did not qualify they were calling us to see how they could qualify.
“Of course, I wanted to get Liverpool here, Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Tottenham, Milan, Napoli … but you have to qualify and there are different criteria.”
The next World Cup is scheduled to take place in 2029, when Infantino refused to abide when asked whether the tournament could be played every two years or expanded to distribute more teams.
He added: “We have created something new, something here to stay, something that changes the club’s football scene.”
