“Fear numbers”: Nithin Kamath from Zerodha suspends the India crisis that ignores it on its own danger

The co -founder of Zerodha Nithin Kamath seemed a stark warning: Indians drank more soft drinks more than ever, which is deeply depth of the country’s disturbing diabetes crisis.

“Here is something that is concerned about the last call call from the beverage maker: Indians consume more soft drinks than ever. Even Indian companies said something similar,” Kamat wrote on X.

Kamath has long informed diabetes as a time bomb of India, which now has the largest number of diabetics in the world. Once he is rejected as “archaeological disease”, diabetes is now firmly fasted in all social and economic groups.

Quoting a recent study, Kamat highlighted that 21 crimes of Indians live with diabetes, as urban youth faces particularly dark possibilities. “If you are a 20 -year -old woman who lives in today’s city, you have a 64.6 % chance to develop diabetes during your life. For young people, she is 55.5 %,” he pointed out.

What makes the crisis more serious is a widespread ignorance. Kamath pointed out that more than 27 % of diabetics are not aware of their condition, and even less than seeking treatment. The case doubles the poor health insurance coverage of India. He said: “Less than 20 % of the Indians have health insurance. They end up paying the pocket, which is a great burden on poor and low -income families.”

Kamath confirmed that there is no single solution. He said: “We need multiple ways – from public awareness campaigns and insurance coverage of weak groups, to early detection programs.”

He also emphasized the power of small lifestyle changes. “Add an additional few minutes of exercise every day or reduce the time of sitting can make a big difference. Even walking or biking another five minutes a day reduces the risk of diabetes,” he advised.

While Zerodha supports startups that focus on preventive health, Kamath called for a regular collective effort. “This is a challenge that needs all concerned persons – from individuals to the government – to take action.”
