European Union sanctions are Syrian militia groups on ethnic violence targeting Alawits

On Wednesday, the European Union imposed sanctions on three groups of Syrian militias and two of their leaders due to human rights violations committed against the members of the Syrian CD minority during a round of deadly ethnic violence in March. This came a week after the bloc agreed 27 countries to lift the sanctions against Syria in an attempt to help the country recover after Bashar al -Assad prolonged.
