European leaders welcomed the plans of US President Donald Trump Holding talks With his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, upon ending the war in Ukraine, but he called for continuous support for Kev and pressure on Moscow to achieve a just and lasting peace.
The statement issued by France, Italy, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and the European Commission came late on Saturday at a time when Ukrainian President Voludeimir Zelinsky insisted that Kiev would not surrender to Russia to buy peace.
Trump, who promised to end a three -year war, plans to meet Putin in Alaska on Friday, saying that the parties were close to the deal that could solve the conflict.
No details of a possible agreement were announced, but Trump said it would include “some land exchange to improve both.” It can require Ukraine to hand over large parts of its territory, as a result of Zelinski and its European allies only says that it will only encourage Russian aggression.
In their joint statement, European leaders stressed their belief that the only approach to ending the war requires the success of active diplomacy, support for Ukraine, as well as pressure on Russia.
They also said that any diplomatic solution to the war should protect the security interests of Ukraine and Europe.
They said: “We agree that these vital interests include the need for strong and credible security guarantees that enable Ukraine to defend its sovereignty and regional safety effectively, adding that” the road to peace in Ukraine cannot be determined without Ukraine. “
The leaders said they are ready to help the diplomat and promised to maintain their “great military and financial support for Ukraine.”
They said: “We emphasize our steadfast commitment to regional sovereignty, independence and safety in Ukraine,” adding: “We still stand firmly alongside Ukraine.”
Chevening conversations
The statement came after US Vice President JD Vance met British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Ukraine representatives and European allies on Saturday at Chevening House, a rural Palace in southeast London, to discuss pushing Trump for peace.
The Chief of Staff Zellinski, Andrei Yermak, who participated in talks with European leaders and US officials, said that Ukraine was grateful for their constructive approach.
“The ceasefire is necessary – but the front line is not limits.”
He also thanked Yermak Vans for “respecting all views” and his efforts towards “reliable peace”.
Reuters news agency, quoting a European official, said that the European actors had provided an aid, while the Wall Street Journal said the document included demands that the shooting should be stopped before any other steps were taken. According to the magazine, the document also stated that any regional exchange should be mutual, with fixed security guarantees.
“You cannot start an operation by giving up an area in the middle of the fighting,” the newspaper quoted a European negotiator as saying.
There was no immediate comment from the White House on the European parallel.
British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron also spoke earlier in the day and promised to find a “fair and permanent peace” in Ukraine, institutes with “fixed support” to Zelinski while welcoming Trump’s efforts to end the fighting, according to a spokesman for the Downing Street.
Macron separately stressed the need for Ukraine to play a role in any negotiations.
He wrote on X after he said that the future of Ukraine cannot be determined by the future of Ukraine without the Ukrainians, who are fighting for their freedom and security for more than three years so far.
He added: “The Europeans will necessarily be part of the solution, because their security is at stake.”
A triple meeting?
Meanwhile, Reuters and NBC News, quoting US officials, reported that Trump is open to a triple summit with Putin and Zellinski. However, at the present time, the White House plans to hold a bilateral meeting as the Russian leader requested.
The summit in Alaska, the remote northern region that Russia has sold to the United States in 1867, will be the first among American presidents and Russian since Joe Biden Bettune met in Geneva in June 2021.

Trump and Putin last time in 2019 at the Group Summit 20 in Japan, during the first period of Trump. They have spoken over the phone several times since January, but the American president has failed to mediate peace in Ukraine because he promised him.

Moscow has claimed four Ukrainian regions – Luhansk, Dunitsk, Zaporesia and Judaison – as well as the Crimea Peninsula, which was included in 2014.
Russian forces do not control all lands in the four regions, and Russia has called for Ukraine to withdraw its forces from the still control parts.
Ukraine says its forces still have a small foothold in the Russian Corsec region, a year after crossing the border to try to have influence in any negotiations.
Russia said it had expelled the Ukrainian forces from Kursk in April.
Meanwhile, the bad fighting continues to be angry along the front line, which is more than 1000 km (620 miles) in eastern and southern Ukraine, where Russian forces hold about five lands of the country.
Ukrainian military analysts say Russian forces are progressing slowly in eastern Ukraine, but their summer attack has so far failed to achieve a major breakthrough.
Ukrainians are still challenging.
“No one soldier will agree to waive the lands and withdraw the forces from Ukrainian lands,” Ulizia Petska, 51, told Reuters to touch to hundreds of Ukrainian flags in Kiev Central Square.
