Doctor Arney imprisoned for raping and assaulting patients

A court in Norway sentenced the doctor to 21 years in prison for rape and sexual assault on dozens of women, in a case that shocked the Scandinavian country.

The former GP Arne bye was convicted of 70 charges of rape and sexual assault. He also was convicted of 82 charges of abuse of his position as a doctor, a Norwegian media report.

Almost all the crimes occurred during the medical examinations he carried out goodbye to his patients while working as a doctor in the small town of Frosta – a small community of less than 3000 residents, near Trondheim on the western coast of Norway.

Bye was also banned from medicine and ordered compensation.

The court had circulated on a lengthy indictment, which included allegations that extend to nearly two decades related to 94 women, according to the Norwegian media.

Bye acknowledged that he was guilty of some crimes, and he was also acquitted about a number of charges.

In his speech before the court in Trondheim on Friday, Judge Espen Hawg said the case was “very dangerous” and described BYE behavior as “completely unacceptable.”

Judge Haug said: “The actions of the defendant occurred in a place and preparation, where people are supposed to feel safe,” Judge Hawg said. “His actions undermined the public confidence in the health service as well as doctors in general.”

The 55 -year -old defendant stood up on his feet, seeing calm and unprecedented as the maximum sentence was distributed.

Then the courtroom was asked to sit, as it took more than an hour until the verdict was read.

Health authorities first alerted the police to concerns about the BYE in August 2022, and was charged after a year.

Bye installed a camera in his office secretly, according to Norwegian media reports. The police revealed the scope of his crimes after reviewing hundreds of hours of shots.

Dozens of women, between the ages of 14 and 67, are from a small rural community. I submit a complaint dated until 2004, and the most recent since 2022.

The methods of the case were the methods used in medical examinations.

For four months, the court heard details of the inappropriate and inappropriate basin exams by bye.

These actions are rape under Norwegian law, which distinguishes between hacked and hacked rape.
