“We are very disturbed by speculative novels arising in sections of the media and public discourse – especially the reckless and indirect hint of experimental suicide,” the Indian Trade Pilots Association (ICPA) said in a statement released late on Saturday night.

“Let’s be unambiguously clear: there is absolutely no basis for such a claim at this stage, and summons such a dangerous claim based on incomplete or primary information is not only irresponsible – it is not very sensitive to the individuals and families concerned.”

The statement added that until the official investigation was completed and the final report was published, “Any speculation – especially such a dangerous nature – is unacceptable and must be convicted.”

The initial investigation led the Indian government with Boeing experts, General Electric, Indian Airlines, Indian organizers and participants from the United States and the United Kingdom. The final report is scheduled to appear within a year.

“We feel that the investigation is being led in a direction that assumes the guilt of the pilots and we strongly object to this line of thought,” said Captain India’s head of the ALPA India team, Captain Sam Thomas.

The Federation also urged the authorities to allow them to join the process “even in the ability of observers to provide the required transparency in the investigations.”

After the report was released on Saturday, Indian Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naido, told the correspondents that “jumping to any conclusions at this stage. Let’s wait for the final report.”

Describing the pilots and crew in India “the backbone of this civil aviation”, he said that India has “the most wonderful workforce in terms of pilots and crew in the whole world.”

Flight 171 was launched from the city of Ahmed Abad, western Indian in London, on June 12, with 242 people on board. The accident was killed 241 on the plane – a passenger miraculously survived – and 19 people on the ground.

The report says that the pilots, their headquarters in Mumbai, arrived in Ahmedabad the previous day and were sufficiently interested. He adds that they have passed breathing tests and were cleared to fly.
