The “Baby Boom” star has been an open book about her health, sharing her experiences to raise awareness. In a 2015 interview, she talked about how she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma at the age of 21, and revealed that the condition had run for a long time in her family.

“It’s a family history,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 2015. “I remember my Aunt Martha had such skin cancer that they removed her nose. My father had basal skin cancer, and my brother had it. It’s hard with this skin cancer. That’s why you have to wear sunscreen.”

Keaton admitted that she neglected taking care of her skin in her younger years and did not realize the importance of sun protection, but she began taking sun care seriously in her forties.
