The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) is involved in extensive discussions on the appointment of the new president and perhaps a new secretary as well.
Devajit Saikia is currently working as a BCCI secretary while the president’s headquarters has been vacant since Roger Benny has reached 70.

Roger Benny, founder, the 1983 World Cup, was appointed as the head of the BCCI in October 2022.

Since then, the Vice President of BCCI Rajeev Shukla has been filled with Binny, and according to a report in TOI, there is a great opportunity to elect him as the new BCCI president because of his experience as a Cricket official.
“Rajev Shukla represents a very good opportunity to elect as president of BCCI in the elections scheduled to happen later this month,” a source source told TOI.
Devajit Saikia days as a BCCI secretary?
Devajit Saikia has been as a joint BCCI secretary since October 18, 2022, before Jay Shah’s replacement, as a new secretary on January 12, 2025, where the latter was elected as President of the International Criminal Court.
It is said that the chairman of the IPL Dhumal Board, former BCCI treasurer, Anirudh Chaudhry, is fighting with the BCCI minister alongside Devajit Saikia, who can continue in this role.
Meanwhile, Angerod Chaudhry has emerged as one of the candidates to become the new chairman of the IPL board. Currently, Rohan Disai and Brabetig Singh are the joint secretary and Secretary of the BCCI fund and are likely to continue in this role.
“It seems, there is some confusion about whether Dhumal is supposed to serve a cooling period. Things will become more clear in the next few days,” a source said.
“Sikia has done a good job so far in about nine months, where he was responsible, as he was leading BCCI efficiently during a period when a lot occurred inside and outside the stadium in the Indian crochet game.
