The Denver Broncos are hoping the long trip to London doesn’t end in defeat to the New York Jets after their defeat. Complete victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Denver was not very convincing during the first four weeks of the season, and appeared to be heading towards a modest defeat in Philadelphia last week when it trailed 17-3.

But the Broncos scored 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to clinch an impressive 21-17 victory over the defending champions and improve to 3-2, with a meeting with the Jets giving them the opportunity to build significant momentum in the AFC playoff race.

The Jets had some encouraging performances against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but last week’s miserable defeat to the Dallas Cowboys left New York as the only winless team in the league.

However, head coach Aaron Glenn is not hiding from the scrutiny that comes with a failed start to his tenure in the largest media market in the United States.

“The thing we can’t escape is the fact that we are where we are,” Glenn said. “We’re 0-5.”

However, he feels that some distance and a change of surroundings could be beneficial for his team as they try to fix their issues and end their wait for a win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“When you look at it, when you see guys running open, when you see missed tackles, when you see chasing angles, when you see all those things, just the little details to understand how to play together, how to coordinate everything together as a unit,” Glenn said.

“Listen, this isn’t one person. This is us collectively, as a team, making sure we’re on the same page. That’s why I love this situation (being in London) that we’re in now – we’re away from everything.”

The only thing Glenn would ideally want to change about the situation is the opponent.

Denver has a fearsome defense, ranking third in the league in expected points added per game and first in success rate. In other words, they are a key defense in preventing offenses’ downward success (success rate) and avoiding runs that would significantly increase the offense’s chances of scoring points (EPA).

The Broncos’ offense is clearly more average, but their late burst against the Eagles should provide confidence to a group that has a lot of talent surrounding quarterback Bo Nix.

The matchup with the Jets figures to be very favorable for the Broncos. New York’s defense has allowed an average of 162.2 yards over the last four games since the Steelers reached 53 in the opener.

Unless there is a major change in fortunes across the pond, Denver linebackers JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey should be able to take a lot of pressure off Nix and allow the Broncos to control the game they are understandably favorites for.
