The expected Ligue 1 confrontation between Marseille and Paris Saint-Lgemain was canceled after issuing negative weather warnings in southern France.

The game, which will be held at Stade VΓ©lodrome Sunday evening, was canceled at the start of 20:45 local time (19:45 GMT) after the expectations of heavy rains and thunderstorms in the Provence-Press Cote Diesor (Baka).

Local authorities raised the warning to the state of oranges, noting serious concerns about public safety.

“Rains can reach 70 to 90 mm in some areas and 120 mm locally within a few hours,” Paca Governor confirmed.

The officials highlighted that the expected storm between 19:00 and 22:00 made it unsafe to stand out with tens of thousands of supporters expected to attend.

Marseille or Paris Saint -Germain did not issue an official statement, although it was confirmed that the match will be held on Monday evening instead.

This means that it will also collide with the Ballon d’or party, which is held in Paris in the same evening.

The Psg Ousmane Dembee star is preferred for the prestigious prize, although he is currently having a knee strings, so he can still attend.

PSG, who are defense heroes, currently lead Ligue 1 after winning all the four opening matches. Marseille sits in eighth, after he gathered two wins and has suffered a defeat so far this season.
