Deion Sanders criticizes Travis Hunter for disrupting social media after online comments about his fiancée

Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders addressed his former player Travis Hunter’s decision Deactivate social media Accounts in response to comments about Hunter’s fiancée, Leanna Linney.

Hunter and Lenee’s Instagram accounts were deactivated on Dec. 23, days after Hunter won the Heisman Trophy. The ceremony included discussions on social media about the event, which included several topics Harsh criticism Hunter and Lenny as a couple. Hunter’s account has since been reactivated.

Sanders gave his reaction to Hunter’s situation in an interview on the “Tamron Hall Show.”

“It hurt me that he did it,” Sanders said of Hunter’s disruption. “What the enemy wants you to do is stop.”

Sanders criticized Hunter for neglecting the business aspect of his decision. As a former collegiate and future professional athlete with an NIL rating of $5.2 million, according to On3.com, Hunter’s social media account activity is likely directly related to endorsements.

“You have endorsements, and you have people who have sponsored you to talk about their products,” Sanders said. “We have to activate now.”

Sanders also criticized Hunter for backing down and suggested that his response would make him vulnerable to “attacks.”

“When someone stays still, now you have an opportunity to attack, and I hate that stillness. Keep moving. Don’t let the enemy get you while you’re still and having a pity party for yourself,” Sanders said, adding that’s what he told Hunter about the situation.

Hunter addressed the situation during a Twitch live streamSaying his fiancée cried herself to sleep and drank because of the violent reaction.

Lenee previously posted a video on her TikTok account in an attempt to end negativity on December 16.

“I’m emotionally and mentally tired. I’ve seen people trying to portray me as someone I’m not,” Leni said in her speech. The clip is approximately eight minutes long.

She also addressed the negativity over her reaction to Hunter’s win Heisman Trophy.

At least one video has surfaced on social media showing Linney remaining in her seat moments after Hunter was selected as the 2024 Heisman recipient. Other video footage appears to show Lainey remaining seated while Hunter greeted fans and took photos with them at an event in New York City the day after the Heisman ceremony. Some fans tried to analyze Leni’s behavior during her time at the event, and even suggested that she was upset.

“When his name was mentioned, I was just about to get up right away. If you watch the video, his mother didn’t get up, so I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I won’t get up, I’m just sitting here,'” she said. “As soon as I saw Travis get up, I thought it was appropriate to stand up and applaud him and congratulate him.

“But then there was a camera right in front of Coach Prime, and I knew they were going to film that moment, and because people were online, I was like, ‘I don’t want to be in that shot.’ So I sat down.

Hunter and Lenny’s engagement was publicly confirmed earlier this year.

Hunter is expected to be the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
