One of the best things Summer Festival He discovers games that mix some of your favorite classics to something completely new. Krisol: I idol theater is a game with a clear effect in Bioshock in its first exploration, but it is mixed with some horror from games like Resident Evil 4 to the mix. Moreover, to re -download your gun, you should sacrifice your blood – and take part of your health bar.
It is a new mechanic that combines the Gothic setup of a promising approach to horror games. CRISOL is developed by Vermila Studios, which was obtained by Embraler Group in 2020, but the game is published by BlumHouse Games. After playing during a 20 -minute experimental show of his new game, David Carrasco CEO, how his game was to correct the horror games.
Each rifle has blood-domain animation-for this pistol, outperforms the handle and Pierce to Palm to draw ten to re-download.
“We have long thought that horror to survive was reaching where you did not have this stay a lot,” Carrasco said. “We wanted to give it an additional layer of tension using your blood, your holy blood, to defeat these non -sacred monsters.”
Certainly I felt in the explanatory show. While I was chasing the streets paved with gravel on an island teeming with non -sacred Marionite creatures, knowing that every missing shot was a little of the lost life. Horror games are granted to players weapons to put out fear (or in their absence, amplify them, as with a memory loss chain), but linking the effectiveness of my health to my health made me slow down and choose my shots, taking fear while closing enemies in – “maintaining stress constantly in the back of your head”, with Carrasco mode.
Although I felt the least interest of players who suffer from weak goal, there is a sufferer to do health sitting in the corners of the deserted stores and buildings. Cristol also has a mechanic where players can harvest blood (and therefore, pieces of life) of dead animals. Carrasco pointed out that connecting weapons to health is an evolution in another horror game to save the heavy weapons ammunition of the dangerous presidents at a later time, in Cristol, you will always be able to use your big guns … at a price.
In Krisol, the players are the role of Gabriel, the captain of the Tercios Del Sol team, a driving of soldiers under the religion of sunlight that takes sacred missions. He receives a divine command to go to an ancient island that is implemented in its marine religion, tortured, and dealing with the statues of the idol that has alive and began around it.
When I asked what Cristol inspired, Carrasco was in advance that Bioshock and a number of evil games residing (4, 7 and 8 specifically) had the right mix of artistic design and playing in Vermila Studios. Dishonored was another source of his focus on art.
“Spray in Spanish folklore, religious tones, and in the end, with all these wonderful, madness and brutal inspiration make something unique and unforgettable,” said Carrasco.
The enemies of the idol resemble Marionite who appeared on the island.
Carrasco said that Spanish folklore is uncomfortable compared to Japanese, northern and American myths that appear in many games. The Vermela Studios, based in Madrid, Spain, has dominated her history and culture in her country-and although Al Jazeera players in Krisol are not explicitly happening in Spain, the players will be able to connect points with cathedrals, ancient architecture, police statues, and water-filled windows that make up the visual language of the game.
This mixture also applies to religion: The players will face faith followed by the island of Cristol, which follows the religions of the sea and the sun, and which I saw a little in the demonstration, with dedicating the nymphs of the sea and other pseudo -pagan effects. But Carrasco admits the Catholic influence on the game as well.
“We have taken a lot of religious inspiration from different religious, such as the Catholic Church, which has a lot of ingredients with deep roots in Spanish culture, but (also) some ancient religions, even sects from extremely ancient history,” she said, stressing that there is no explicit relationship with the Church or Catholic Christianity. “We have sacred blood, but it is not like Christ or any connection with the reality of religions at the present time.”
While I wander around the streets of cobbled clarification, I see how all these elements are mixed in the visual language of theysol. Carrasco pointed out that Vermila Studio has a larger artistic department than usual, as about 20 people work for five years to go out drafts of enemies and sites to give the game a look and appearance that they feel familiar, fantasy and reasonable at the same time-that it may be on an island outside the sea.
Carrasco said the players are exploring the game from 10 to 14 hours, they will test the creeping horror of the presence of the sect, but Vermela does not depend on many of the jumping fears, which can lose its effect if it is excessive. Instead, the game will depend on the tension of the enemies who stand for you and follow you, from those who have run out of blood (and health) to defeat, to those who are not affected by your weapons.
In the second half of the demonstration, I faced what Carrasco was talking about: a long -standing Marionite monster with an impossible broad smile that summoned me, and I ignored my bullets while I was wandering in the buildings to evade her pursuit. Like other unknown chase chiefs (Mr. X at Resident Evil 2, Jack Baker in Resident Evil 7), I had to infiltrate while the bolt cuts were found for the chains -bound doors. I also had to lift a gate slowly, expecting to close my chaser in any second.
She fled to a restaurant under the title of mermaid and ended the illustration, but the feelings that the game holds. They are also clearly appealed to Blumagus, who were interested in the style of dramatic art in Chrisol and blood mechanics. For Vermila Studios, Blumhouse was well suitable for recording them in bringing new artists and projects that may be smaller but brings something new on the table.
“For us, being part of the Blumhouse collection is similar to the partnership that was made in heaven – or hell, perhaps – where they understand terror and what tickles it,” said Carrasco.
Cressol: I idolat Theater comes to PC, PS5 and Xbox later in 2025.
