Conservative American commentator and Trump Charlie Kerk ally were shot on Wednesday at an event at the University of Utah Valley, NBC News reported, noting a university spokesman.
A NBC News spokesman said that Kirk was making a presentation when the shots were launched and “we knew that he was injured with his security team away from the building.”
Fox News stated that Kirk was taken to the hospital.
A video of the incident on social media showed that Kirk was addressing a large outdoor crowd when he rang a loud rift that seemed likely. Kirk can be seen shortly while moving his hand to his neck while falling from his chair, and sending the attendees running.
“A bullet was fired from a nearby building and we have a suspect in the reservation,” a university spokesman told Reuters in an email.
Cash Patel, director of the FBI at X.
He said that the FBI agents will quickly be at the scene.
Kirk, an activist and founder of the Conservative Student Group, played a major role in leading youth support for Trump last November. Its events in universities all over the country usually draw large crowds.
US President Donald Trump called for prayers.
“We must all pray for Charlie Kerk, who was shot. A great man from top to bottom,” Trump published the social truth.
