A Colombian presidential candidate was shot three times – according to twice in the head – at a campaign event in the capital, Bogota.

Miguel Urie Turay, 39, was attacked during a small crowd speech in a park on Saturday. Local media say the police arrested a 15 -year -old suspect at the scene.

His wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, called on the nation to pray for his survival. “Miguel is currently fighting for his life. Let’s ask God to direct the hands of the doctors who treat him,” she said.

The Orbi Party of Democrats in Orbie condemned the attack, saying it “showcases the life of a political leader … democracy and freedom in Colombia.”

It seems that the joint phone footage online shows the moment when he was shot in the head in the middle of the speeches, which prompted the follow -up to escape in a state of panic.

The paramedics said that he was shot in the knee and twice in his head. He was transferred to the Santi clinic in where supporters abroad gathered to hold the protest.

The government of the left wing president, Gustavo Petro, said it is “cities cities categorically and the strength” of the attack as “a act of violence not only against his person, but also against democracy.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also condemned the shooting as a “direct threat to democracy.”

Uriani announced his candidacy for the presidential elections next year in October.

He is from a prominent political family in Colombia, with ties to the liberal party of the country. His father was a leader of the union and a businessman.

His mother, Diana Turay, a journalist who was killed in 1991 in an attempt to save after her kidnapping by drug Medeline Cartel at the time by Pablo Escobar.
