Coca-Cola Nigeria and Bottler, authorized, has opened Nigerian bottles filling company (NBC), a new center for the local mobilization group in APAPA, Lagos.
The facility to support the infrastructure for recycling plastic materials in Nigeria is set with the ability to treat up to 13,000 tons of plastic bottles annually.
“This axis will be an important center for the collection, sorting and recycling of the petylene terephthalaate, which will significantly reduce plastic pollution in our environment,” said the governor of the state of Lagos Papajid Sanolo.
This initiative is in line with the global sustainability goals of the Coca-Cola system and are designed to serve as an integrated solution to plastic waste management.
The axis will support pet processing, and convert materials into clean pets.
It aims to facilitate recycled PET production (RPET) through the cooperation of the third party, contributing to cleaner societies and enhancing procedures to reduce packaging waste.
Coca-Cola Nigeria is part of a wider commitment to reducing packaging and emissions, aiming to use recycled materials from 35 % to 40 % in their initial packages.
Over the past ten years, Coca-Cola has been said to have injected more than $ 1.5 billion in the Nigerian economy, which supports economic growth and sustainability initiatives.
“This facility represents a great milestone on our waste-reducing journey by collecting and packaging our packaging in Nigeria,” said Coca-Colanic Bottling Company Bogdanovic.
“By investing in the axis, we support local communities and create job opportunities, in addition to showing our commitment to building a more sustainable future in an integral country of success.”
In August last year, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Committee in Nigeria He issued a final order against Coca-Cola Nigeria and NBC due to the descriptions of misleading trade.
