Jannik Sinner’s defense champion celebrated his twenty -fourth birthday by reserving a place in the Cincinnati Open Championship final.
The World No 1 defeated the TERENCE ATMANE surprise package in successive groups, 7-6 6-2, to demand his victory in the ATP 200 round in a hard stadium, and its twenty-sixth victory over the surface.
The Italian did not face one break throughout the semi -final match to secure its place in the championship one hour and 26 minutes in the court.
“It was a very difficult challenge,” the sinner said. “Every time you play something completely new, it is difficult, but playing against this man in the subsequent stages of the tournament is more difficult.
“The pressure is higher and you know they deserve to be there. He overcame incredible players throughout his victories.
“I knew that I had to be very careful, and my mind was in a good place. I felt as if I had dealt with situations on the field very well.”
The familiar enemy Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev is waiting for the wrong in the final on Monday.
