Carlo Ancelotti called “the greatest coach in history” after agreeing to leave Real Madrid and direct Brazil during the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti, 65, will be responsible on May 25 after the end of the real league season, and is expected to name his first team after only 24 hours.

His first matches are the World Cup Qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay in June.

“Bring Carlo Ancelotti to Brazil’s coach is more than just a strategic movement. It is a statement of the world that we are determined to restore the upper part of the platform,” said CBF president Edino Rodriguez.

“He is the greatest coach in history, and now, he will be with the greatest national team on this planet. We will write new glorious chapters for Brazilian football.”

CBF added that “Ancelotti begins his mission this week” in meetings with the General Coordinator Rodrigo Kitano and former defender Juan, the technical coordinator of the federation, so that he can choose his team.

Brazil is fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers.

Ancelotti moves to the international administration after winning the title in Italy, England, Spain, France and Germany.

He led Milan to the Champions League in 2003 and 2007 and added three other titles with Real Madrid in 2014 and 2022 and last year.
