Canada plans to recognize the Palestinian state in September

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will get to know a Palestinian state in September if the West Bank’s Board of Directors agrees to make some obligations.

The Prime Minister said that the Palestinian Authority should hold elections in 2026 and adhere to other democratic reforms.

“Maintaining a solution from the two countries means standing with all people who choose peace on violence or terrorism, and honor their innate desire for the peaceful coexistence of Israeli and Palestinian states as the only road map for a safe and prosperous future.”

He said that Canada will officially get to know the situation of Palestine in the United Nations General Assembly.

Carney’s announcement came after he spoke to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas earlier on Wednesday.

Israel rejects Canada’s plans
