Cadillac F1: Dan Torres says a new entry “building a ship while sailing” to prepare for the 2026 season | F1 news

Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac, admitted new hunted in Formula 1, “they build a ship while sailing”, but he is still confident that the team will be ready to start the 2026 season.

After an official approval in March from an attempt to become the eleventh team on the network next year, the operations accelerated in attempts to ensure that the new team is able to compete immediately.

Towriss, who leads the project alongside the Grame Lowdon team manager, attended the Italian Grand Prix, where he made an update for its progress.

“We are largely on time,” said Towriss Sky SPORTS F1. “We have good weeks and bad weeks because it is not this linear progress.”

“We are satisfied with the progress made to this point.”

The race may be ready for the year 2026 more complicated because of the fact that the team is divided through three rules, or four sites if you include the wind tunnel they use in Cologne.

The team has two facilities in the United States, along with a UK base in Silverston, where Towriss confirmed that the structure is designed.

He said: “We had a car in the wind tunnel, a 60 percent scale model, for some time. We were (using the wind tunnel) in Cologne and the team was working hard.”

“Even in the last two weeks, we have flowed 50 people to the team. We are building a ship while sailing on it.

“From real estate to build the company, and collect all resources together, we put things on shipping containers within a few weeks to come in time for the race.

“All these pieces come together and we are talking.”

“The right drivers in time”

Cadillac offered two main signatures in late August, where veteran drivers Sergio Perez and Volti Potas joined multi -year deals, adding huge experience to the team.

Perez and Potas enjoyed long attacks at the sharp end of the network with Red Bull and Mercedes, respectively, both of whom are scheduled to return after the missing seats in 2025.

Towriss said: “The lineage (drivers”, and they know what to expect in the car. They have done so before, they are very successful in itself. They are the right drivers at the right time.

“We have conducted the analysis and experience essentially. We have taken our time to make a decision and at the end of the analysis, the experience was the key to us.”

Torres said that Perez was particularly admired during the interview, admitting the impression that the Mexican left is dissipated ideas for the signing of a younger driver.

“Checo’s experiments really came. It was allowed to meet and leave us very excited to nominate it,” Torres said.

“Maybe before that meeting, perhaps we were looking at a younger driver, but Checo was great and truly began to separate herself from those who were not in the seat yet.”

“From a cultural point of view, you will do so, but it is a global sport and we will be a global team,” he added.

“There are a lot of different accents in the team! But it will definitely have this American feeling and affects how we think about partnerships, marketing, storytelling and culture.”
