Bus drivers under stress: BMTC bus loses control after driver suffers sudden seizure, video goes viral

Bengaluru residents were shocked after an electric bus of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) went out of control near M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, October 11. The driver reportedly suffered a sudden seizure while driving, causing a chain collision involving several vehicles, including a two-wheeler.

This terrifying accident was captured on the bus’s security camera and quickly went viral on the Internet, sparking widespread debate about road safety and driver welfare.

The footage shows the driver accidentally pressing the accelerator after a seizure, while the bus driver desperately tries to stop the bus. The car then collided with nine cars in front of it.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The driver was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital and is now out of danger, according to what was reported by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. HinduQuoted by BMTC officials. They added: “No one was harmed and everyone is safe.”

The footage went viral on social media and reignited conversations about conditions for drivers in India.

Users pointed out that bus drivers work under extreme pressure for long hours and face high risks on crowded roads in India. One wrote: “I was once in Europe, where it was the norm not to drive a bus for more than two hours. They either changed the driver or took a break. But in India, drivers continue to drive for a full 12 hours under extreme pressure.”

In other countries, people with epilepsy are only given driving licenses if they haven’t had seizures for two years. “I’m epileptic and have a licence, but I barely ride my scooter – I’d rather stay indoors,” one user wrote.
