The authorities said on Friday that the rural songwriter who won the Grammy Brett James, which includes a series of his best songs, “Jesus, take the wheel” for Carrie Andrew and “When the sun decreases” by Kenny Chesney, died in a plane crash in North Carolina. It was 57.
