BFM TV Reports indicate that the woman identified as Anne was first contacted by someone claiming to be Brad Pitt’s mother. Despite her suspicions, Anne kept in touch with the person for 18 months and later received messages from someone pretending to be the actor. She explained to BFM TV that she was not familiar with social media, which made it difficult for her to understand.

“At first I told myself it was fake, that it was ridiculous. But I’m not used to social media and I didn’t really understand what was happening to me.” Anne explained.

Per PEOPLE, Anne initially sent more than $10,000 after the fake account claimed it needed the money to cover tariffs for gifts supposedly sent to her. After telling the scammer that she had recently divorced her husband, Anne reportedly sent nearly all of her $798,000 divorce settlement.

“There are very few men who write you that kind of thing. I liked the man I was talking to. He knew how to talk to women, and he always did it very well.” Anne continued.

The person who pretended to be Pete claimed that he had kidney cancer and needed a loan due to his divorce from him Angelina Jolie. The scammer went further by sending AI-generated images of Brad Pitt’s face to men in hospital beds.

Anne continued to do her own research and found that Pete was having an affair with Ines de Ramon, but the scammers denied it. However, she didn’t let fake Brad get away that easily. Since then, a lawsuit has been filed and the police have opened an investigation.

After Anne’s story went viral, a representative for Brad Pitt intervened to address the situation, according to the Verge website. and! news. The anonymous actor warned people to be careful of random contact online.

“It’s terrible that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities, but this is an important reminder not to respond to unwanted online communication, especially from actors who don’t have a social media presence,” it said.
