The United Airlines and Jetblue Airlines partnership, known as “Blue Sky”, was cleared to take off after a review by the US Department of Transport (USDot).
United said in a media statement on Tuesday: “Blue Sky is a new and unique cooperation aimed at giving customers of both airlines more options to find flights that suit their plans in addition to new opportunities to earn and use MilegePlus® Miles and Trueblue in all flying.”
The partnership is not a merging Airlines, But the agreement that will receive Jetblue provides access to the openings at the crowded international JFK Airport in New York for a period of seven rounds of back and forth, is scheduled to start in 2027.
“As part of a pure neutral exchange, Jetblue and UNIDED will exchange eight flight timing in Newark,” United said in the statement.

Reuters reported that the partnership, which was announced in May, was requested by Jetblue after a federal judge prevented his alliance with US Airlines in 2023.

In June, Spirit Airlines Usdot urged to reject cooperation between air carriers, saying it was anti -competition and will urge other large transport companies to follow similar deals, according to Reuters.
