Best Amazon Prime Day laptop deals of 2025: MacBooks, gaming laptops, and more

Amazon Prime October day It arrived with a bunch of laptop deals to delve into. I test notebooks and watch deals throughout the year so I can decide which deals are worth popping in, and which ones to skip. There are plenty of great discounts at this year’s October event, also known as Amazon Big Deal Days, just in time for the holiday shopping season. And since most new laptops won’t be announced or launched until 2026, I see some deeper discounts on some Best laptops I checked in 2025.

Best MacBook deal

The MacBook Air has been excellent over the past few years, but in the latest generation M4, it’s truly better than ever. Performance, battery life, keyboard, and display are still top-notch, and that hasn’t changed. GPU performance in particular has taken a big step up compared to the M3 chip. This alone would be reason enough to justify a purchase MacBook Air (9/10, WIRED recommends), but there are some real improvements in this year’s model that take it even further. It’s got a webcam upgrade, from the standard 1080p to 12MP with features like Center Stage and Desk View.

But my favorite new feature is the added support for an external display. The M4 MacBook Air can now handle up to two external 4K 144Hz displays, making it even better at handling a multi-monitor home workstation setup. For more information, see our guide on Which MacBook should you buy?.

A powerful alternative to Windows

When people ask me about the best Windows laptop, the first thing that comes to mind is the Surface laptop. Naturally, this will depend on your needs, which is why the Windows ecosystem is so diverse. but Laptop desktop (7/10, WIRED recommends) Perfect for what the average person needs, and covers the same space as a MacBook Air. It’s thin and lightweight, has a premium design and build, and—most importantly—it has great battery life. This is an area that the Surface Laptop has struggled with in the past, but never more so. My favorite aspect of the Surface Laptop has to be its 3:2 aspect ratio display, paired with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. This is something that even the MacBook Air doesn’t have.

And while I wouldn’t mind adding more ports, I also appreciated the inclusion of a USB-A port, which keeps me from relying too much on dongles or adapters. Maybe it will be released in 2024, but we probably won’t get a newer model used Snapdragon X2 Elite For six months or so, which means the Surface Laptop remains a good buy, especially at this discounted price.

High quality specs in an inexpensive laptop

the Dell 14 Plus (6/10, WIRED reviewed). a lot To submit. Dell has made available a new configuration that comes with 16GB of RAM to bring the price down to a staggering $650. However, it still packs a sharp 2500 x 1600 display (with a 90Hz refresh rate) and a terabyte of storage. What’s more, the Dell 14 Plus has great battery life, according to my own testing. This is truly an incredible amount of PC for only $650. So, yes, you can buy a MacBook Air or Surface Laptop, which have a more premium look and feel. But to get a terabyte of storage in one of these laptops, you’ll be spending upwards of $1,000.

The best cheap laptop is getting cheaper

I’ve been recommending this budget laptop since I reviewed it earlier this year. Not because he is a great Laptop in this sense. The screen is a bit dull and thick, and the touchpad leaves a lot to be desired. But all of this is to be expected at this price. What makes it noteworthy is the chipset inside, the Snapdragon Asus VivoBook 14 (6/10, WIRED recommends) It works well and has really impressive battery life.

These are two areas that budget laptops have traditionally struggled with, making the Vivobook 14 one of the best you can buy in this price range, especially since it’s typically discounted by up to $100. For Amazon’s Big Deal Days event, the Vivobook 14 dropped to a new low of $617, which is $134 off the regular price. However, I would say that you should buy the Dell 14 Plus at its discounted price compared to the Vivobook 14. It’s worth the extra $33.

Best deal for gaming laptop

Gaming laptops tend to fall into one of two camps: cheap and crappy or expensive and expensive. In the central region, where value is often better, bargains can be difficult to find. One of the best options for Amazon’s Big Deal Days this year is the Asus ROG Strix G16. It makes a happy medium between performance and portability. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a tried and true gaming laptop with all the key features that mark it as such. It’s also not exactly what I’d call cheap. But the RTX 5070 Ti GPU inside will definitely impress in the latest AAA games, thanks to the 12GB of VRAM inside. Perhaps the biggest opponent is the RTX 5060 model. It is a $300 discountbringing the price of this starting configuration down to $1,200.

Great deal for Surface tablets

The Surface Laptop and Snapdragon X chips have really helped Surface Pro 11th edition (6/10, WIRED recommends) Realizes its full potential. Suddenly, this Windows tablet had the battery life and performance to really compete with the iPad Pro. But it’s the OLED display that really gives the Surface Pro the look it needs. Although the OLED version of the Surface Pro was very expensive when it was launched, it is now more affordable. Just remember: You still need to buy a Type Cover keyboard to get the full 2-in-1 experience. Once you do that, there will be no better 2-in-1 laptop you can buy.

Best deal for a Chromebook

the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 (8/10, WIRED recommends) It’s not new, but it was one of the first “Chromebook Plus” models, offering higher specs without a significant increase in cost. Even today, it remains a reliable Chromebook for a great price, now $100 off for a total of $320. What you get is a powerful Chromebook, thanks to an Intel Core i3-1305U processor and 8GB of RAM. It comes with a touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 as well. At 0.79 inches thick, it won’t impress you with its portability, and its appearance is nothing to write home about. But at $320, that’s a great deal.

Affordable 2-in-1 Chromebook

Chromebooks are known for being great laptops for students, and no device embodies that better than Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 (8/10, WIRED recommends). This compact 11-inch 2-in-1 is extremely portable, making it the perfect device for travel, whether on a plane or across campus. At just over two pounds, it’s easy to fit in a backpack or purse. Despite its price, it has a glossy 1920 x 1200 display, which looks very sharp at 11 inches. You’ll have to learn to get by with the cramped keyboard and touchpad, as well as the limited ports, but for the right person, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 is a device like no other.

Affordable 16-inch laptop

Some people really want a large laptop. This may be because they have poor vision or because they will not use an external monitor. Whatever the reason, a 16-inch laptop often costs a little more, especially if it has premium specs e.g Acer Swift 16 AI (8/10, WIRED recommends). It’s currently on sale for $450 off, bringing the price down to just $800. However, you do get 16GB of RAM, a terabyte of storage, and a 2880 x 1800 HD display (with a 120Hz refresh rate). It’s fairly thin at 0.63 inches.

The best laptop for content creators

There is still no other laptop like it M4 Pro or M4 Max MacBook Pro (7/10, WIRED recommends). It somehow has amazing performance and great battery life. Some Windows laptops with discrete GPUs have plenty of performance, but the battery life can’t hold up. Naturally, the MacBook Pro also has a super-bright Mini-LED display, tons of ports, and world-class speakers. These are thick computers Compared to MacBook AirOf course, but it’s worth it for the extra performance if you really need it. So, if you’re someone who really knows they need the promise of extra power, the M4 MacBook Pro is still a no-brainer. Just remember: Basic M4 model This won’t give you the boost you’re looking for, as performance will be similar to the M4 MacBook Air.
