Benavidez Sr.: Bivol takes rematch with Beterbiev

Coach Jose Benavidez will select Sr. Dmitry Bivol to defeat undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev in a rematch 31 days later on February 22 in Riyadh.

Jose Sr. says he felt former WBA 175-pound champion Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) won the first fight against Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) by “one point” on October 12 of last year. It sees Bivol doing it again in their rematch next month.

Benavidez Sr. says Bivol was “faster” and that his “movement” was key in his mind to why he deserved to beat Beterbiev. He did not mention how shy and unwilling he was to deal with Bivol since the sixth round. I left that part out.

It’s called Confirmation biasThis happens when people form their opinions early, making snap judgments about events, such as the Bivol-Beterbiev fight. People who felt Bivol would win collectively made up their minds after six rounds and then looked for evidence to support their deeply held beliefs in the second half. They eliminated Beterbiev’s dominance as he controlled the fight with his constant pressure.

“I think it will be another close fight. We saw that they both gave their best. Both styles suit each other, and I think Bivol won the first fight. In this fight, Bivol can win again,” said Jose Benavidez Sr. Shawn Zettel On his thoughts on the rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol scheduled for February 22.

“He’s a little faster, he’s got more mobility,” Jose Sr. said of Bivol. “Beterbiev hits hard, and he’s probably waiting for that big shot. Hopefully, Bivol doesn’t stand in front of him and get hit with a big shot. So, I think it’ll be the same fight.

“Bivol, I think he won by one point. It was a very close fight. For me, it would have been a tie, but they gave it to Beterbiev. I’m not a judge, but I felt like he (Bivol) did enough to win that one,” Benavidez Sr. said. “The battle.”

If Bivol is victorious in the rematch with Beterbiev, it would suit Jose Benavidez Sr. because his son, “The Mexican Monster” David Benavidez, matches up better with Bivol. They have sparred in the past, and Benavidez reportedly overpowered him with his pressure and size.

Benavidez would not do well against Beterbiev because he hits harder with his short, powerful punches and is an excellent counterpuncher. The size that Benavidez relies on to win his fights will leave him vulnerable to being destroyed by Artur and hurt.

Furthermore, Beterbiev goes to the body well, and he took advantage of Benavidez’s significant weakness in that area. Benavidez doesn’t take body shots well, and Beterbiev would frequently target that area, hitting him in between moves to score the knockout.

If Beterbiev defeats Bivol on February 22, Benavidez will have to seriously consider whether he wants to take this fight or move up to cruiserweight to pursue Gilberto “Zordo” Ramirez.

Of course, that is if “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez wins his fight against WBA light heavyweight champion David Morrell on February 1. There is an excellent chance that Morel will win this fight thanks to his superior strength, technical skills, and youth.

Morell will face the winner of the Beterbiev vs. Bivol II rematch, leaving Benavidez to decide whether to move up to cruiserweight or be one of several contenders at 175. Jose Sr. will likely be cheering for Bivol to win the rematch, knowing what’s going on. Share to his son Benavidez.
