Marcus Rashford is scheduled to replace Lamine Yamal in the Barcelona squad to face Newcastle United, but coach Hansi Flick needs “eight hours of comfort” to decide on the issue of another selection of the Champions League.

Barcelona will be without Yamal In the opening match of the Champions League in St. James Park due to the thigh injury, which also kept it from Valencia’s 6-0 crush at the end of last week.

Rashford played on the left on this march, lying on Ravenha’s help. Flick stressed mainly that it will start against Newcastle, and hopes that England will have a major impact because Barcelona aims to win a positive result that is likely to be a noisy atmosphere on Tenniside.

“I want to talk about the players who can play,” Flick told a news conference before the match. Tomorrow (Yamal) cannot play and we will see on Sunday. We have a good team and there are people for this position.

“Rashford is on the team. If someone can’t play, he can come. I hope he can show what he did in England on Sunday.

“I have followed Marcus since Manchester United. What I saw in the first few weeks was very good and has a little more possibility to show him. It is very good to have him in the team. He is a great and wonderful player. What I see is very good.”

Elsewhere on the Barca Forward line, FLICK needs to determine whether the Ferran Torres or Robert Lewandowski will start in the middle. Torres led the line in all their four games so far, but Lewandowski has twice as a substitute against Valencia.

“I must watch the training session, then I need an eight -hour decision,” Felk said of his dilemma in the introduction.

In Newcastle Joe, Felk added: “I was never here, but my players told me that this stadium is one of the best atmosphere. I expect a great team, with intensity and care about the second plays. Edi Hau is a great coach and they did a great job.

“What we saw against Valencia was very positive. We play well in all aspects. With this confidence, it is important to play tomorrow. You must have a ball and benefit from spaces.

“It will not be an easy match. It is very strong and there is a very strong team in this Champions League, but we are confident.

“There are many young people (in the team), but also the old warriors, especially the Spaniards. They know how to deal with pressure. It is our strength. We have confidence in the ball and we have to focus from the beginning. Last season we were many points (in the league stage), and we were trusting, but it is important to start well from the beginning.”
