Sergio Busquets will retire at the end of the MLS season.
The 37 -year -old released the advertisement on his Instagram page overnight, and finishes speculation about whether he will expand his contract with Inter Miami or call it one day.
He chose the latter and will put an end to a glorious profession after the Miami Football League campaign.
Busquets said: “I feel it is time to say goodbye to my career as a professional football player. It has been nearly 20 years of enjoying this amazing story that I have always dreamed of.
“Thank you for FC Barcelona, Hayati Club. There, my childhood dreams achieved the shirt I loved in hundreds of games. I celebrated many stories and lived unique moments in the Nou camp that I will never forget.
“Thank you for the national team of Spain. Honor has the honor to represent him several times and enjoy the achievements that will always remain in my heart.
“Thank you for Inter Miaami for allowing me to be part of a new and growing club, as I wanted to live a new experience and contribute to my role.”
Busquets decreases in Barcelona folklore
Busquets moved to Miami in 2023 after he participated in more than 700 games with Barcelona, with whom he won nine titles in the Spanish League in addition to the Champions League three times.
It was decisive to the side built by Pep Guardiola, and formed a group of midfield with Xavi and Andres Inasta.
He also presented the trio on the international stage, which helped Spain winning the 2008 and 2012 European Championship and World Cup in 2010.
From Barcelona to Miami
After leaving Camp Nou, he rejected a number of offers to move to MLS, and play alongside his former teammate on the Barca Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
Miami won the shield of supporters for the year 2024, which enabled the club to participate in the club’s expanded World Cup.
