Lando Norris and Oscar Piasstri insist on no changes to McLaren’s participation rules after “good” conversations about their collision in Canada.
Norris, which includes 22 points behind PiaSSTRI in the Drivers Championship in the Austrian Grand Prix race this week, faced the back of his colleague in Montreal and retirement from the race.
Andrea Stella, team manager Andrea Stella, stated that he wanted a “better referee” than his drivers after the collision.
Norris said: “There was a good understanding of everything, the realization of my thoughts and the understanding of things on my part and an explanation of that to the team.”
“I think I made it clear from the direct moment that was wrong and took its mistake. Of course, the conversations were not happier, but the conversations that should be clearly because they are not only related to myself, but rather the way we lead as a team. We all know what the base was number one, and will always continue.
“Many things have come out stronger than they were before Canada, which you may not expect. Through the unfortunate circumstances, many things have been learned to be stronger.”
Piastri, who has finished the eight consecutive platform after ranked fourth in Montreal, says he and Norris “are still free in the race” and “will” make sure that “they are not colliding again.
“I don’t think it will change anything. For me, I will definitely not do anything different,” he added.
“If Lando will do anything different, this is the answer, but I do not expect anything to change. We still have a long season. I think it will be a narrow battle for the rest of the year.”
Norris blamed the accident with PiaSSTRI immediately and is believed to be accountable “a good example” on McLaren.
“My team means everything for me, the people with whom I grew up, and the people who gave me the opportunity in Formula 1, and I want to win with McLaren,” continued.
“Because he was with my team -mate, the most painful thing for me because it is the last thing I want.
“I felt bad, very bad for the team. There was a few difficult days, but this is better in dealing with it, talking to Andrea and Zak (Brown), and the team, it was moving forward as soon as possible.”
Norris: McLaren may struggle in Austria’s qualifiers, where Piaastri reveals promotions
Even without a collision, PiaSSTRI and Norris were on their way not to finish the platform in Canada – the first time that the McLaren driver was not in the first three places this season.
“Some of our main competitors have discovered” in hot circumstances, with more warm weather forecasts in the Austrian Grand Prix.
“Austria was one of our best paths in the past, but it was also very good for Red Bull and Max,” said Norris, who took the first F1 platform in Spielberg.
“They have an advantage over us in high -speed corners, which there is a great deal of here, so we expect to be good, but we may face somewhat in the qualifiers, compared to some of our competitors.”
PiaSSTRI and Norris made various front comments in Montreal, where the Australian driver chose to use the old.
Ferrari Ward Ball confirmed that they will get promotions this week, but this will lead to the leaders of the McLaren Championship.
“We surprised us a little until we were not strong as we were hoping in Canada, but we hope it would be one time,” said Pasri.
“By the time we got to qualify, I think we were in a better place and in the race, our pace was not really bad, only we qualified a little.
“I think we somewhat understand the error that occurred in Canada. So, we will try to spend a better weekend here, but I am sure that we will return to the top.
He added: “We have some new parts, yes. I think some of the bits are at the front of the car, and we hope it will make us faster. This is usually the plan.”
