In a post on X, the presidency said that President Dina Polwariti was currently traveling to Calo to monitor the coast after the tremor.
Police told Colonel Ramiro Kalauko Radio RPP broadcaster in Peru that a 36 -year -old man died in northern Lima while “standing outside his car waiting for a passenger.”
The Emergency Operations Center added that five people were treated in the hospital and the damage was reported to the roads and educational centers.
According to Herno Tafra, CEO of the Geophysical Institute in Peru, who spoke with the local TV channel N, all areas in Lima felt the earthquake.
Local radio stations also stated that the earthquake has canceled a major football match to be held in Lima.
