At least 110 people died in floods due to heavy rains in the center of Nigeria, officials told the BBC.

The head of the Niger Emergency Management Agency (NSMA), Apala Baba, said that the rains lasted for several hours.

He added that “the growing flood water was flooded and washed more than 50 residential homes with its passengers.”

According to NSMA, it was the most damaged areas of Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa in Mokwa City more affected.

The head of the Moca Province, Mohamed Shab, Alio, said that he was “60 years” since society has suffered from this type of flood.

“I beg to the government to support us.”

This is the beginning of the rainy season in Nigeria.

Many parts of northern Nigeria witnessed heavy rains and floods in 2024, which caused deaths, people and destroying homes and infrastructure.

The country also suffered from severe floods in 2022, forcing about 1.3 million people to get out of the homes and caused more than 600 deaths.
