Astro Bot wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024

Team Asobi’s Astro Bot took home the trophy today, the 10th winner of The Game Awards’ Game of the Year award. Studio head Nicolas Doucet accepted the award from Previous winner Swen Finke from Larian StudiosHe thanked the rest of the studio for their work and passion. The game beat out several other favorites, including player-voted winner Black Myth: Wukong, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Balatro, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Astro Bot took home several other awards over the night, including Game Direction, Family Game, and Action/Adventure Game. Several other GOTY contenders also took home awards – Astro Bot wasn’t the clean sweep that Baldur’s Gate 3 was last year. Balatro took home the award for Best Independent Game and Best Independent Debut Game, as well as Best Mobile Game. Metaphor: ReFantazio also took home Best RPG and Art Direction, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took home Best Score and Music.
