Nicholas Silosi spent most of his life to reconsider the events leading to the assassination of former US President John Kennedy.
Silence stories filled his childhood home. Conversations with his uncle Joseph (Bibi) Giancana, the brother of Chicago team leader Gust, Sam Giancana, helped shed light on his family’s potential participation in one of the most prominent moments in American history.
After decades of filming cinema and television by Sam Giancana, Celosi re -filming Kennedy in 1963 with a focus on the main players in Zi Chicago, a strong Italian American criminal organization.
For Celozzi, the latest endeavor to write the script is more than telling another assassination story. It is about the family.
“My family, my cousin, are tired of the people who use our name, and they will be forgotten and a fake story narration,” Silosi said in an interview.
“These are not fictional people … they are real people. They are at risk, they have nerves, they make mistakes, and they are not completely sure of things.”
Sam Giancana, head of the Chicago team in the fifties and sixties, was widely known for his relationships with the Kennedy family. He was shot at his home in 1975, and he was still killed.
Many have speculated that the mob group also played a role in Kennedy’s assassination, and this is explored in Silusi November 1963And that started filming in Wenteg this summer.
Depending on Pepe Giancana stories, Celozzi focuses on 48 hours before the assassination.
Silosi, one of the producers in the independent movie, said Giancana, a driver full of his brother, was a fly on the wall in the days before the assassination.
Several conversations led to what Celozzi “Pepe Chronicles”, a series of stories that separate family relations from the family.
“I was always aware of those who were. These are not things that everyone returns home and talks about. It is awareness. It is a kind of strange reality in which I was born.”
Baby Giancana died in the mid -1990s, leaving his stories with Slosi.
Leadership for honesty
The writer said he knows that he wants to do something to honor his family’s history without breaking them into cartoons that are often present in the mob cover. So he started working with Sam Giankana’s daughter Bonnie Giankana to formulate the scenario.
For several years and rewriting, Celozzi said they worked to ensure the accuracy of all the details.
“I needed to keep this honest with the story that Bibi gave me, or why would she do it at all? If I am not honest about what he gave, there was no purpose in doing this,” said Silusi.
Veteran Canadian producer Kevin Diwal from Minds Eye Entertainment on board to produce the film that concluded filming in Wenipeg last week and enters after production in Saskatchewan.
“I don’t think the family is proud of what happened … it was important for them to say the truth before they die,” said Diwal.
The team includes John Travolta, Dermot Mulrneyy and Mandy Patinkin, directed by the English director of the Academy Award Roland Gove.
When it is time to choose a location that can simulate in the 1960s Chicago and Daily Plaza in Dallas, where Kennedy was killed, producers and Kenipeg chose other major cities such as Atlanta and New Orleans partially because of its alive exchange. Producers decided that Winnipeg was an ideal position for Windy City.
Deley Plaza, and the famous Knoll Knoll, were built from scratch in Pords Hill Provincial Park, northeast of Wenipeg.
The film features an additional 1500 and 75 to 80 cars to accurately photograph the time period.
Diwal said he expected viewers to be detonated because of the film’s ability to bring a new level of originality and validity for a moment in history.
“People will get out of the stage with their own impressions about what all this means,” he said.
“At the end of the day, at least we gave them the tools of one of these things that have been said, and they can make their own impressions regarding what they feel about it.”
When asked if he believed that the film might be honored with feathers with historians, governments or mob members, Ceozzi said this is not his goal.
“What I do is just putting this lost piece, not hearing, just writing it.”
