Apple has announced some of its biggest updates to highlight the Mac search feature through WWDC 2025 on monday. In MacOS Tahoe, Spotlight can be used to run shortcuts and take hundreds of actions, such as writing emails, preparing reminders, and podcast toys.

Apple upgrades Spotlight as chat applications, such as Openai’s Chatgpt and Google’s Gemini, are increasingly popular. People all over the world use command line facades to complete their tasks, and Apple appears to update the lights to be part of this transformation. The company says the lights have become the fastest way to browse all the content on the Mac.

Spotlight gets a visual redesign, allowing users to browse more easily through applications, files, governorate history and more. All of these results are now listed together, and they are classified “intelligently” based on the importance of users.

Apple also provided quick switches: short chains of letters that take users directly to certain applications or procedures. Mac users can write “SM” to send a message, or “A” to add a new reminder. Users can also set fast keys for specialized functions in the spotlight. Developers can also make their applications discovered in the spotlight using API API.

In one of the pilots, one of the Apple CEOs explained how users can send a full email from Spotlight, fill parameters such as the recipient, the topic line, the message, and even click “Send” without going to another application. Whether users will really send emails by highlighting the renewed MacOS Tahoe.

Apple says the lights are now integrated with Apple Intelligence to be aware of the context. The search feature on devices will now indicate action usually taken by users, and based on what users are currently working on.

The upgrade of the lights was one of many updates to the MacOS that was unveiled in the Apple WWDC. Apple also said that MacOS was getting a new direct tracking feature integrated with the iPhone, as well as redesigning the “Liquid Glass” program.
