Apple is pausing AI notification summaries for news alerts in the latest iOS beta

Some important changes are coming to Apple Intelligence notification summaries. With the latest slate of developer previews for iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3, Apple has discontinued batch system notifications, specifically from news and entertainment apps, while working on improvements to notifications.

The company has also added a new disclosure that appears when users enable notification summaries for the first time. It states that notifications are an experimental feature and that they may produce unexpected results. Separately, the betas add a new option that lets users decide from the lock screen whether they want to summarize notifications from the app. Finally, AI-generated alerts use italic text to further differentiate them from their non-summarized counterparts.
