Anoparna narrated the history written in Venice

When ANUPARNA ROY accepted the Orizzonti Award for her first time from the forgotten trees in Venice earlier this month, she won a rare victory for most women in her background.

This is in itself a tall achievement, but the popular origins of Roy in a tribal village are not described in the Burulia region of West Bengal – thousands of miles away from the enchanting palace in Venice – make its victory more important.

From Ritoic Ghatak to Satagate Ray to Mrinal Sen, Bengal produced many world famous strings. But, unlike, Roy, 31, grew up away from the elite cultural influences of Kolkata, and participated in a more road by the Indians in the city-a university degree followed by the position of the call center.

It was the way to escape the pressures of marriage and a “means of economic stability”, Roy told me during the zoom conversation. But he ended up until he became much more.

While collecting information technology programs in Delhi, an opportunity to meet with cinema students sparked a love relationship with the cinema and Roy saved every penny that he got over the next six years to finance himself for the first time in the short term to the river.

She filmed the entire film in her apartment and even got the two main actresses to move during this period.

The songs of forgotten trees are a deep character of Roy.

Initially, it was intended as a documentary film – the central characters inspired by the life of Jeddah Roy and her daughter, who participated in a quietly intimate relationship of Platonic.

Another character, JHOMPA, who is a friend of Thooya, is based on a friend of childhood narrator Jhuma Nath from the Dalit community (which was previously previously) who was married at the age of twelve.

“There was poverty and economic instability everywhere around me. And I hesitated to resonate with the lives of these people.”

It is not surprising that on her great day in Venice, Roy wore her roots and policy firmly on her possession, using a platform to express the support of Gaza children.

She asked her designers to make a traditional handmade Sari who combined two worlds – Palestine and Borulia.

The hand drawn by hand with traditional Bangladeshi decorations had the colors of the Palestinian flag on its borders.

She has caused criticism on social media, but she said she was firmly from her speech.

“I will use my voice to talk about everything that makes us uncomfortable,” Roy said.

“I cannot make sugar -coated cinema. I have to make films that represent the world in which we live, even if they bother people.”
