Carlo Ancelotti’s repeated message of hard work and commitment from his Brazilian team paid off today Beat South Korea 5-0.

Ancelotti did not find it easy at the start of his tenure with Brazil, winning two out of four matches and struggling to settle on his formation.

But they looked far more composed in Seoul as Willian Estevao and Rodrigo both scored to add to Vinicius Junior’s goal as the hosts were swept aside.

“I am very satisfied with the team’s performance,” Ancelotti said. “Obviously, if you have a strong base, with a strong defence, the individual quality comes out in attack.

“Rodrigo played a very good game, as did Estevao. In attack, the team has a lot of diversity, a lot of attacking solutions, and today we benefited from the individual quality of these players.

“It was a complete team performance. I think we played very well with and without the ball. The team’s commitment was very good. When a team is committed in the game, quality shows and it showed very well today.”

The first goal was the key to Brazil’s victory – Ancelotti

The 18-year-old Estévão opened the scoring at the end of an exciting attack that began deep in Brazil’s half and ended with a wonderful pass from Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes.

The Italian Ancelotti added: The key to the match was the first goal, because Korea started trying to defend with a midfield piece, which put pressure on our defence. “Estévão’s first goal opened up Korea’s defense a little, and then we had an easier time controlling the game in attack.

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve been talking about collective commitment. This is a platform, and then when the team has this platform, we have a lot of potential to do things very well.”

The son struggles with South Korea

Real Madrid winger Rodrigo raced inside to score the second before half-time, and Estévão then slotted the ball past a defender to make it 3-0.

Brazil’s high pressure also led to them recovering the ball to score the fourth goal, as Vinicius Junior passed the ball to Rodrigo to score the second goal.

South Korean captain Son Heung-min played for just over an hour before he was substituted, but his team was in a good position and only had one shot on goal.

Vini Jr then made his own intervention, running wide from the halfway line to score.

Brazil remains in the Far East for its next match, a friendly match with Japan at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo on Tuesday.
