Amnesty International told me the wrong things about the childhood job in Elon Musk at the Garden Coordination Company – here is why it is concerned on Labor Day

At the risk of withdrawing the rank, let me give a small background. In 1998, I built a “expert system”, a profit, which turned complex financial numbers into regular English. It is still being used today. The expert system was an early predecessor for Amnesty International. The idea was simple: helping business owners to understand their financial data in ways that allow them to make better decisions. It has succeeded well enough that the banks began to use them, which were enjoyable and worrying.

My fear was that people rely on the system too much – that they would use external sources to distinguish them in the device. And they did. Instead of using it as a tool to inform their decisions, some lenders used it as an alternative to making decisions. Just like credit degrees today, which, at best, is significant but excessive inference, technology has sometimes become a substitute for a healthy sense. This was never the point. The number on a page, or spitting words by the program cannot replace the decisive function that we hope will have humans: proper sense and judgment.

Soon forward, the world is installed on artificial intelligence. Technology leaders tell us that almost every human role will take over, from lawyers and doctors to teachers and truck drivers. If you think the main headlines, this is a matter of time just before computers do everything we do, just better. I think they exaggerate in their hands. Here is the reality: computers are great to line up data, but they don’t think. They have no judgment. They don’t know how to say, “I don’t know.”

Recently, various systems have been tested by the question: “What does Elus Musk know from the adolescence coordination company management?” I came back long, confident and well -documented answers. There was one small issue. Elon Musk has not managed the garden coordination company. The systems did not hesitate, and the question did not explain that it was defective, and did not qualify their answer. They made something.

I learned that the height of human intelligence is the ability to say, “I do not know”, or “your question is not true.” In other words, to think in reality. More importantly, if these systems do not understand what they do not know, this makes me wonder about their allegations of what they know. Imagine a world in which people blindly depend on the answers when the question is wrong or when the answer requires context. Unfortunately, we are not far from it, I am afraid. This is the problem. These systems not only make things wrong, but they are mistaken in power.

The Day of Workers revolves around respecting the human side of work. It comes to remembering that the economy is not just a subscriber. The computer cannot draw a house, fix a tube, or operate a small company. A company, team management, or inspiration of a community cannot start.

That is why it is worth returning to the noise of artificial intelligence. The work has always been more than productivity. It is also related to thinking critically and taking responsibility for your output, which can only come from us.

So, while we celebrate workers on this workers’ day, remember: Amnesty International is not as smart as it has been announced. This is not a threat. It is a reminder that humans remain the most valuable part in the economy. We cannot use external sources of thinking. We should not let ourselves believe that we can.
