François Cholet, an influential AI researcher, is launching a new startup that aims to build groundbreaking AI systems with new designs.
startup, NadiaIt will consist of an artificial intelligence research and science laboratory. It looks forward to “developing and operating” General artificial intelligence. The term AGI, which stands for “artificial general intelligence,” typically refers to artificial intelligence that can perform any task that a human can. It’s a goal For several AI companies, including OpenAI.
“We are betting on a different path to building artificial intelligence capable of true invention, adaptation and innovation,” Chollet wrote in an article. Series of posts on X. “We believe we have a small but real opportunity to make a big breakthrough — creating AI that can learn at least as well as people, and that can continue to improve over time with no bottlenecks in sight.”
Ndea plans to use a technique called program synthesis, along with other technical approaches, to unlock artificial general intelligence. Schulet believes that software synthesis, which allows AI to generalize to never-before-seen problems with just a few examples, can help overcome the most difficult problems in AI research.
Software installation is usually compute-intensive. But Cholet believes that this limitation can be overcome, and that overcoming it will help accelerate scientific progress.
“[We]are not alone in recognizing the potential of software synthesis — it is a technology that every frontier AI lab is now beginning to explore,” reads a blog post on Ndea’s website. “We are at the height of a pivotal moment in scientific history and the world deserves every direct and unique attempt to build artificial general intelligence.”

Ndea, which Schulte co-founded with Zapier co-founder and AI chief Mike Knoop, has not disclosed whether it has raised any capital from outside investors. But the company is currently hiring for remote research positions, suggesting there is at least some financial support.
Knoop says he’s quitting his day job at Zapier to make Ndea his focus, but will remain a member of Zapier’s board of directors.
“We are assembling the best software assembly team in the world,” Knob said He said In a post on Organically for decades or even centuries.
Chollet, who recently Fired She is a non-profit that works with Knoop to develop standards for artificial general intelligence, and is the latest high-profile AI researcher to leave major tech companies to found an independent AI lab. Perhaps best known as the creator of Keras, a high-level, open-source API that can be used to create AI models and process machine learning tasks, Chollet Announce Last November, he announced he was leaving Google after nearly a decade there.
Ilya Sutskever, former chief scientist and co-founder of OpenAI, Founded last year Safe Superintelligence, an AI lab that has raised more than $1 billion in capital from investors including Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz. Elsewhere, Google AI researcher and Stanford University academic Fei-Fei Li is heading Laboratories of the worlda company that develops artificial intelligence systems that can create 3D simulations similar to video games.
