After publishing the image of Amnesty International, Trump criticized himself as the Pope

US President Donald Trump has attracted criticism from some Catholics after publishing a picture created from artificial intelligence as the Pope.

The image, in which the official social media accounts participated in the White House, comes at a time when Catholics grieves the death of Pope Francis, who died on April 21, and they are preparing to choose the next ink.

The New York Catholic State Conference accused Trump of mockery of faith. The publication comes days after his joking to the media: “I would like to be the Pope.”

Trump is not the first president to accuse him of causing a crime of Catholic faith. Former US President Joe Biden, a Catholic, caused anger a year ago when he put the cross mark on a pro -abortion arrival in Florida.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Brunei refused to answer questions about Trump’s publication while briefing with reporters on Saturday. The Vatican is preparing to host Conclave to choose the successor of Francis starting on Wednesday.

Trump’s photo on Friday night shows that he wears a white casoka and a pointed meter, which is traditionally worn by the bishop. He wears a large cross around his neck, and hit his finger, with an ice expression of the face.

The New York Catholic State Conference, which represents the bishops in New York, took to X to criticize the image.

“There is nothing smart or funny in this picture, sir,” the group wrote.

“We have just buried the beloved Pope Francis, and the crushing is about to enter a new tour of the election of a new successor to Saint Peter. Do not make fun of us.”

Former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi also criticized the position of Trump.

“This is a picture that offends believers and institutions and shows that the right -wing leader of the world has housing.”

But the White House rejected any proposal that the Republican president was mocking the papacy.

“President Trump flew to Italy to respect Pope Francis and attend his funeral, and he was a strong hero of Catholics and religious freedom,” said journalist Caroline Levitte.

The reverse reaction continued on Sunday, when the bishop of New York Timothy Doulan – who was friendly with Trump for years – told the correspondents that he hated the picture.

“It was not good,” he said, after attending a mass in Rome. “I hope it will not have any relationship with that.”

By switching to Italian, it was called “BRUTTA FIGURA”, a phrase that means a bad or embarrassing impression.

When asked if the White House should descend the image and apologize, he said – again in the Italian language – “who knows” and refused to talk more about it.
