President Trump has repeated an invitation to restore the huge air base, but the Taliban says we must engage without a military existence.

Afghanistan has rejected an invitation from President Donald Trump to the American army to return to the country and restore the Bagram Air Force Base.

An official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that Kabul is ready to participate, but stressed that he would not allow the United States to restore a military presence in the Central Asian country.

Trump said on Thursday that his administration was pressing the “return” in Al Qaeda in Bagram. The American president, who has long expressed his hope to restore the facility, indicated that his position is vital in strategic terms due to his proximity to China.

“We are trying to restore it,” Trump announced. “We presented it to the Taliban for nothing,” she complained, adding that Bagram “is completely one hour away from the place where China makes its nuclear missiles.”
