(Reuters) – India’s Adani Green told independent law firms to review the U.S. indictment of founder Gautam Adani and top Adani Green executives for paying $265 million in bribes for energy contracts.
In November, US authorities indicted Adani, his nephew and CEO Sagar Adani, and managing director Vneet S. Jaain, alleging that they paid bribes to secure Indian energy supply contracts, and misled US investors during fundraising there.
The Adani Group denied the charges, calling them “baseless.”
Adani Green did not mention the names of the law firms or any other details.
She said the company was not named as a defendant in the indictment and civil complaint and asserted that it had made all appropriate disclosures in the past including circulars in filing bonds.
She added that Adani Green’s management continues to ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
