A senior adviser to Tolcy Gabbard, the American director of national intelligence, admitted in an email on March 24 that the Venezuelan government may not have specifically sent the activities of the gang that the Trump administration used to justify the rapid deportation of migrants, but it argued that the link between Caracas and the gang was “common”.
US President Donald Trump used the claim that Treen de Aragoa is coordinating its American activities with the Venezuelan government of President Nicholas Maduro to summon the law of foreign enemies to justify the deportation of alleged gang members to the Aqsa Security Prison in El Salvador. Some legal scholars have argued in calling the law that requires a foreign government.
The Trump administration has deported more than 200 immigrants by summoning the law of foreign enemies – a wartime measure – on the grounds that they are members of Trin de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang. In the email, according to a person familiar with the matter, a second source confirmed, the Chief of Staff, the Chargé d’Affaires, asked “to rethink” in the evaluation of intelligence, which contradicts the argument of the administration that Venezuela is responsible for American activities for members of the Trine de Aragoa gang.
“I would like to understand how any (intelligence community) element has reached the conclusion that the Venezuelan government does not support and did not organize TDA in the United States,” Kent said in the email, referring to the TDA in the United States.
“Our nation dumping migrants, especially immigrants who are part of a violent criminal gang, is the work of an enemy state even if the government of Venezuela is not specifically important or enabling TDA operations.”
He added that analysts need to produce a new evaluation on the gang “reflects the basic healthy sense.”
The New York Times was the first to report contacts with the National Intelligence Council, the highest analytical body in the intelligence community. Reuters is the first to publish the contents of this email in detail.
The Stock Exchange emphasizes the payment of Kent, a former CIA officer, Michael Collins, Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, and other DNI officials to reassess them, taking into account the points that Trump had previously made clear publicly.
A spokesman for the Office of the National Intelligence Director called the schedule presented in this story “false and fabrication”, and Kent called “an American national who still serves our country with honor.”
“President Trump ranked Trine de Aragua rightly as a foreign terrorist organization based on intelligence assessments, frankly, so common sense,” said the White House.
In his email, Kent has argued that it would make sense for Venezuela, an American opponent, to send gang members across the border, saying that any country seeking to harm the United States “will take its bad representatives naturally and send them to our nation.”
“When Biden announced that the borders are open, I think we allowed to seek direct links between the Venezuelan government and TDA that obstructs the basic proper sense,” adding that the National Intelligence Council needs to start “to consider obtaining a new evaluation on TDA and their relationship to the Venezuela government that reflects the basic occasion.”
While Trump’s ancestor Joe Biden faced high levels of illegal immigration during his presidency, his administration also took steps to bend illegal border crossings and encourage immigrants to enter the United States legally.
In subsequent emails with ODNI officials, Kent also said that Gabdard needs “protection” in the rewriting process, according to two people familiar with this issue.
The New York Times reported late on Tuesday that in one email, Kent ordered analysts to “do some rewriting” evaluation and more analytical work so that “this document is not used against” Gabbard or Trump.
Kent’s emails were in response to the evaluation of the National Intelligence Council in February on this topic – one of them at least in recent months – which took into account agencies such as the CIA, the FBI and the National Security Agency.
The first was published internally on February 26 and announced by reports from the New York Times in March. He said that the intelligence community did not find that the gang was controlled by the Venezuelan government.
Two persons are aware of the situation that the second, which was published on April 7 and announced earlier this month through the Law of Information, added more context and differences, but confirmed the original evaluation of the intelligence community.
It is not clear why Trump’s data contradicts the results of his agencies
Collins, President of NIC, was removed from his position as the President of the Public Prosecution of the National Intelligence Council last week alongside his vice president, Maria Langan Richov.
It is not clear who ordered the assessment of the original intelligence or why Trump later made statements contrary to the results of his intelligence agencies.
It is common for the White House – under any administration – to ask its intelligence community to establish reports on various national security issues.
Traditionally, intelligence agencies are assigned to produce assessments without political intervention or bias so that the president and the most important national security officials can make more enlightened decisions.
The removal operations raised terror at the higher levels of the intelligence community, according to three people who are aware of this issue.
Collins and Langan Richovs have been publicly accused of ODNI to politicize intelligence.
But two people familiar with the situation said that Kent pressed Collins to reassess the initial intelligence to conform to a closer way to the general discourse of the administration. Collins, despite this request, a company was held and instead supported the original results of spy agencies.
“It is clear that Collins was subjected to his job,” said one of the senior intelligence officials in the former United States. “Collins is respected throughout society and has a long history of working on difficult problems with the highest integrity.”
