Jason Statham, who never goes too long without getting his ass kicked, is back with another kick-ass action movie. Amazon MGM has released the first trailer for “A Working Man,” which was previously titled “Levon’s Trade.” The big appeal here is that Statham has reunited with the director David Ayer, who helmed last year’s action film “The Beekeeper.” It is clear that this cooperation has gone well, as evidenced by this meeting. Check out the trailer above.
“The Working Man” is based on the book “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon. Not to get ahead of ourselves here, but this is also just the first book in a series of Levon Cade books, which means we could be looking at a franchise here, if all goes well. He’s no different from Lee Child He wrote “Jack Reacher”, which inspired the TV show “Reacher” on Prime Video starring Alan Ritchson.
Not for nothing, the official description is on Amazon’s list of the top six books by Levon Kidd He says, “Levon is so bad. He makes Jack Reacher look like a crossing guard.” Does the trailer support that? That’s for you to decide, dear reader! Meanwhile, the official synopsis for Iyer’s film reads as follows:
Levon Kidd left behind a decorated black ops military career to live a simple life in construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to return her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever imagined.
Working Man brings together Jason Statham with some trusted collaborators
Aside from Ayer, also famous for Suicide Squad, handling things behind the camera, A Working Man is a reunion for Statham and his Expendables castmate Sylvester Stallone. The “Rocky” and “Rambo” star has a behind-the-scenes role on this film as well, serving as a co-writer of the screenplay (alongside Ayer) as well as a producer. This isn’t the first time Statham has starred in a film written by Stallone either, as the actor previously played the lead role in the 2013 Stallone-penned action film “Homefront.” Suffice it to say that the pair enjoy a good and long-standing creative partnership. As such, it seems like this could be a great fit for Statham at this point in his career.
It’s also worth noting that Ayer and Statham have so far made a good pair commercially. The Beekeeper grossed $152 million worldwide and helped save the box office During a difficult period in early 2024. It seems that having Stallone on board will only improve the outlook here. To say the least, everything looks good on paper with this.
The Working Man cast also includes Jason Fleming (“Snatch”), Merab Ninidze (“The Courier”), Maximilian Osinski (“Ted Lasso”), Cookie Falco (“The Tribe”), and Michael Peña (“Jack Ryan “). ), David Harbor (“Stranger Things”), Noemi Gonzalez (“The Valet”), Ariana Rivas (“Prom Dates”), Emmett J. Scanlan (“Kin”), and Eve Mauro (“The Code”). On the other side of the camera, Chris Long, John Friedberg, Bill Block, and Kevin King Templeton have joined Ayer as the film’s producers.
“A Working Man” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 28, 2025.
