“A collision proof plane!”: Air India crashes engineers to design artificial intelligence that works outside the “airbags” of the aircraft

In the wake of the crash of India in June 2025 in Ahmed Abad, engineers developed a remarkable unconventional safety system: the outdoor airbags of the aircraft. This concept, called Project Rebirth, is the final of the prestigious James Dyson Award, which recognizes the changing inventions of the world.

Reisth describes it, which the creators described as the first survival system that breaks artificial intelligence, publishes smart airbags, influence absorption fluids, and ventilation in the air, a mix that they may turn into fatal accidents into a survival that is survived. “If the collapse is inevitable less than 3000 feet, the air bags are automatically activated,” the project notes, adding that the captain can still frustrate at that point.

The system is designed by Eshel Wasim and Dharsan Srinivasan, students on the BITS and Science Institute (BITS) campus in Dubai. They say the tragedy of India 171, which killed 241 out of 242 people on board just seconds of takeoff, was their inspiration. One of them wrote: “After Ahmedabad’s crash in June 2025, my mother could not sleep.” “This deficit is chasing us. Why is there no system to stay after failure?”

Technology depends on monitoring artificial intelligence sensors, speed, engine condition, fire, direction, and experimental response. In the case of emergency, the airbags are released from the nose and the abdomen and their tail within two seconds, and the fuselage is transported. Reflecting the trend or gas stampede slows down, while the sclerosis inside the cabin is stiff to the effect of reducing injuries.

The inventors stress that the system can be re -equipped with current aircraft as well as installed in new aircraft. Although there is no date for a version, they hope in partnership with Aerospace Labs to test Smallly Sledge and Wind Tunnel. Winning the DYSON Award on November 5 will give them more than $ 40,000 and an opportunity to take the project to development.

They wrote: “This competition is our first step in presenting our vision forward – not to confess, but in the hope that it will one day help, it may help save lives when everything else fails.”
