A cargo ship moves after editing from ice in the frozen lake of Erie

The American Coast Guard said that a cargo ship was on its way to Canada on Sunday after it was released from the ice that besieged it in the freezing Lake Eri for several days.

The Manitolin ship, a 663 -foot (202 -meter), with 17 people on board, hung at the ice in Lake Erie on Wednesday after it was dropped a load of wheat in Boufalu, New York, and was on its way back to Canada. The Coast Guard said. It was edited on Saturday.

A US Coast Guard ship has been operating since Thursday to help Manitolin, and officials said on Saturday that a second ship had arrived to help liberalize the shipping ship. The Canadian Coast Guard also had a ship to help this effort.

The shipping ship was accompanied by approximately 20 miles (32 km) of ice from Buffalo until it reached the free water, according to Lieutenant Kyle Rivera from the Coast Guard.

On Sunday, Rivera told the Associated Press that the shipping ship must travel the rest of Lake Erie and then climb the Detroit and St. Claire rivers to Canada, where it will spend the rest of the winter.

He added: “There is ice in other parts of the lake and the rivers, but we have another definite that will take it across there.”

The American Coast Guard’s helicopter was at the scene and is making flights to monitor the situation. A third US Coast Guard ship was scheduled to arrive on Monday, in the event that the ship Manetolin remained stuck.
