A California restaurant is offering free pizza “nonstop” to help feed wildfire victims and first responders

When disaster strikes, there are always unsung heroes who rise from the ashes to help their beloved community.

Venice Pizza Girl is no exception.

“We’re providing pizza not only to first responders, but also to a lot of evacuees. So we’re doing everything we can. As you can see, our store is small but mighty,” Pizza Girl founder Carolyn D’Amour said. FOX Weather’s Brandi Campbell Thursday.

“My team is amazing and I couldn’t do it without them. So these guys have been marching nonstop. We’re now making 200 meals for Topanga firefighters.”

Since catastrophic wildfires tore through Southern California nine days ago, D’Amour says her restaurant has put out at least 1,000 pizzas.

As of this week, more than 40,000 acres and 12,000 structures have been burned, at least 25 people have been killed and dozens are still missing.

Cal Fire reports that the Palisades and Eaton Fires are among the five most destructive fires in California history, and a recent AccuWeather analysis found the estimated cost of the losses to be between $250 billion and $275 billion.

Resources, personnel and equipment I spilled from more than six states and at least three other countries to help fight the fires, according to FOX Weather.

Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Washington and Utah sent dozens or hundreds of responders on the ground, while Canada, Mexico and Ukraine also offered immediate aid and assistance.

While Pizza Girl’s regular business has come to a halt, Low-key operation She has plans to continue serving the community so that people and places can build back stronger and better.

Officials say the recovery process will be long and arduous for the affected communities surrounding Los Angeles. As the fires continue to burn, the focus remains on containment, search and rescue and supporting those affected by this devastating event.

“Honestly, all of our catering jobs have been eliminated. Obviously you can see how calm the situation is, but we will get through this,” Damore said.

“And I believe we’ll rebuild and we’ll be fine. I think just supporting everyone is the most important thing right now, doing everything we can.”
