A British husband has been detained in Thailand for more than two decades after his wife’s mysterious death

Authorities in Thailand have arrested the British husband of a Thai woman whose body was found in a remote mountainous area in England more than 20 years ago.

The lifeless body of Lamdoan Armitage – née Sikanya – was found by hikers in the Yorkshire Dales in 2004.

Thai officials and North Yorkshire Police confirmed the man was David Armitage, Lamduan’s husband.

North Yorkshire Police, which is leading the investigation into Lamdoan’s death, sent a team of investigators to Thailand last year to meet Lamdoan’s family after confirming her identity through a DNA test.

“If Mr Armitage is deported, we understand that he will have a choice about where he goes, which will include returning to the UK,” the spokesman said.
