A Belgian soccer player was arrested for cocaine smuggling

Belgian soccer player Radja Ningolan was arrested as part of an investigation into the smuggling of cocaine.

The 36 -year -old was one of the many suspects arrested by the Belgian police on Monday morning, after a series of raids throughout the country.

“The investigation is related to alleged facts related to the import of cocaine from South America to Europe via the Antwerp port and its redistribution in Belgium,” the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

No more information was revealed to the public.

The arrest comes just six days after Naingolan retired to sign with the Lockerin team in the Belgian second division.

He scored in his first appearance, and gave his team a point in a 1-1 draw at home in front of Ki Lers.

The midfielder was born in Antwerp, and spent most of his career in Italy, where he played for the Roma and Inter Milan teams.

Between 2009 and 2018, he participated in 30 games with Belgium.
