Two people were killed in an Israeli air strike on Dera in southern Syria Conflict news

The Israeli army said it had targeted military sites in southern Syria, which was “a threat to the State of Israel.”

At least two people were killed and 19 others were injured after an Israeli air strike on the outskirts of the southern Syrian province of Deira.

The Israeli army confirmed the strikes on Monday night and said it was targeting military sites that contain weapons and vehicles concerning the forces of the Syrian President, the prolongation of Bashar al -Assad.

An army statement said that the Israeli army “currently highlights military targets in southern Syria, including command centers and military sites that contain weapons and military vehicles belonging to the old Syrian regime,” adding that “military assets” pose a threat to the State of Israel.

The army said it “will not allow military threats in southern Syria and will work against it.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Israel targeted a military site that it had previously used by Assad’s forces, but it was now used by the army of the new Syrian government.

However, this is not the first time that Israel has targeted the southern province of Dera, near the Jordanian border. Earlier this month, it targeted many Syrian military origins in the same region.

At that time, the Israeli army said that the military sites, which included the rules and radar systems, are a threat that the strike was “the judiciary.”

Risol Serder of Genzes from Damascus said four Israeli air strikes targeted Dera on Monday night.

“This is a strategy for Israel (to) that really reduces the country’s military capacity, especially its defensive ability, and now Israel is going through, saying it is very well that it does not want any military presence in southern Syria,” he said.

He added: “Of course, for the government in Damascus (this) is a great challenge, and this means that they do not control the southern cities in Syria.”

Since Assad was expelled, Israel has carried out hundreds of air strikes in Syria and deployed forces in a United Nations buffer zone at the Golan heights.

While Assad was in power, Israel also attacked Syria routinely, and bombing what he said was Iranian goals and Hezbollah.
