The supreme federal prosecutor in Manhattan resigned after the Ministry of Justice ordered her to drop corruption charges against the mayor of New York City.

A spokesman for the US Prosecutor’s Office for the southern region of New York (SDNY) confirmed the resignation of Daniel Sasson on Thursday.

This comes four days after the Deputy Prosecutor Emile Bouv sent his acting in charge to Sasson to order the case against the mayor of New York Eric Adams. The Sasson Office General Public Prosecutors did not submit an official proposal seeking to reject the case.

The Ministry of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Adams, the former police chief, is accused of offering illegal contributions and bribes of foreign citizens, including luxurious foreign trips. He faces conspiracy and fraud in wires and a bribery charge in an indictment from five numbers that were divided last September.

Adams, a democratic who formulated relations with US President Donald Trump, admitted that he was not guilty.

The southern boycott, known for providing prominent issues on financial crimes, public corruption and national security, has long been known for its independence from the Ministry of Justice in Washington.

It is not immediately clear who will take Sasson’s place.

New York City mayor Eric Adams is accused of bribery and fraud

The mayor of New York City and the former NYPD official, Eric Adams, was charged with five federal charges related to allegations that he received illegal contributions and bribes of foreign citizens in exchange for preferences.

The former SDNY Reuters prosecutors told the matter that the matter is from Bove, the same as a former SDNY public prosecutor who also worked as a Trump’s personal criminal defense lawyer, raised questions about whether the office could remain independent of political pressure during the second period of Trump.

In his note, Pov said that the decision to drop the case has nothing to do with its advantages. Instead, he wrote that the issue was distracted by Adams about Trump’s help in taking strict action on illegal immigration, which is one of the priorities of the Supreme Republican President.

Trump has reformed the Ministry of Justice to end what he calls his weapons against political opponents during the administration of former Democratic President Joe Biden, but critics say he threatens to manage political administration.
